SAUL ESTRIN

Professor Saul Estrin is Head of the Department of Management at the London School of Economics (LSE). He was formerly Adecco Professor of Business and Society at London Business School, where he acted as Deputy Dean for six years.

Saul has been a visiting Professor at Stanford University, Michigan Business School, Cornell University, and European University Institute. He is a Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research, IZA and William Davidson Institute. Being one of the most cited authors on the process of economic reform and transformation in Central and Eastern Europe, Saul has published more than one hundred scholarly articles and books.

Saul serves on the Board of Barings Emerging Markets and has been a consultant to the World Bank, European Union, OECD, DfID and NERA.

BRUNO GIUSSANI

Bruno Giussani is the European Director of the TED Conferences and a frequent public speaker. He has authored several books. Most recently, his articles have appeared in WSJE, Business Week, NZZ, The Economist, Foreign Policy, Ilsole24ore Nòva24 and others, and he is a frequent commentator on Swiss Public Radio. He is a member of the Boards of Internet consultancy Tinext and of the Knight Fellowship at Stanford University, where he was a Fellow in 2004. He lives in Lausanne, Switzerland.

AMBASSADOR DAVID A. GROSS

Ambassador Gross is a partner in Wiley Rein‘s Communications Practice and is one of the world’s foremost experts on international telecommunications. Prior to joining Wiley Rein, Ambassador Gross served as the U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy at the U.S. Department of State for eight years. Prior to his appointment, he served as Washington counsel to AirTouch Communications. Before being acquired by Vodafone in 1999, AirTouch was the world’s largest wireless telecommunications company with extensive interests in the United States, Europe, Asia, and elsewhere.

Currently, Ambassador Gross draws on his more than 25 years of experience as a global policy maker and corporate executive. Ambassador Gross has had the honor to lecture at many colleges and universities around the world. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

SUSAN KISH

Susan Kish is a senior executive with more than two decades of experience in financial services, renewable energies, networks and building businesses. Susan is currently the Director of Knowledge Services at New Energy Finance. She is also Director of the European Energy Forum. She has founded First Tuesday Zurich and is a former Vice President at XING. As the CEO of First Tuesday, she developed it into a highly regarded independent think tank that supported the development of thought leader networks and innovative knowledge sharing. The firm focused on generating strategic dialogue and collaborative learning, through techniques such as effective scenario planning and war gaming. Previously, she was with UBS for more than 14 years, most recently as Global Functional Head of Structured Finance and then in Private Banking, based in Zurich. She is active on several boards and supports various initiatives including as a Jury Member for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. She graduated from Harvard University, and lives with her family in Zurich, Switzerland.

TASHI LASSALLE

Tashi Lassalle is a communications strategist with ten years experience in politics and private enterprise. Today she focuses on the transformative power of the emerging markets as a Director at Actis, a global private equity fund with US$4.8 bn under management. Her previous work has focused on the intersection between talent and technology. As Vice President of Strategic Development for Heidrick & Struggles she initiated new ventures, and built collaborative partnerships with organizations including the World Economic Forum, World Bank, NASDAQ, and Tomorrow’s Company. With professional and personal experience that spans the US, Europe and Asia. Tashi now lives with her young family in Copenhagen.

HANS ULRICH MÄRKI

Hans Ulrich is the former CEO and Chairman of IBM Europe Middle-East and Africa. He currently serves on the board of several multinational companies, among which ABB, SwissRe and MettlerToledo. He also is on the board of some of the world’s best business schools, such as HEC Paris, IMD Lausanne , IESE Madrid and Bocconi Milano. He currently lives in Zürich, Switzerland.

THOMAS SEVCIK

Thomas Sevcik has a degree in Architecture from the Technical University in Berlin and is co-founder and CEO of Arthesia. Arthesia is an applied communication thinktank and has offices in Zürich and Los Angeles and insures companies, organizations and regions against sameness using atypical solutions. Thomas Sevcik is the mastermind behind diverse projects such as Volkswagen’s “Autotstadt” corporate themeworld in Wolfsburg, Germany and other major narrative environments and meaning projects. He is a well-regarded thinker and speaker and serves on several executive and advisory boards and committees in the communication and arts industry. Thomas regularly gives lectures and writes articles. He is married and lives in Zürich.
