Jay Lee is half English and half Chinese, and has completed studies at the University of Durham, Tsinghua University and the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing. She has lived and worked in UK, Hong Kong, France, Spain and Beijing, and is fluent in English, Chinese, French and Spanish. She currently works on an EU business facilitation project targeting SMEs and start-ups that come to China.
Jay is very interested in the fields of education and environment, and has worked with groups such as Beijing charity Compassion for Migrant Children (CMC) and the British Council, teaching disadvantaged children in China and France for almost two years. She worked on the P&G Business Ambassadors CSR programme on a regular basis in UK state schools, and is currently an Ambassador for CORE (‘Chinese Open Resources for Education’), a Chinese non-profit organisation focused on the exchange of educational resources between universities such as MIT, Harvard, Tsinghua, Peking University, and many others. She also volunteers every week at BN Vocational School which offers free vocational training for Beijing migrant workers’ children where she is working with the school to re-write their courseware.
Last summer Jay was a lead coordinator of the Suchen (Sustainable Chinese Entrepreneurship) Xpedition. She was selected to participate in two British Council events in Shanghai focused on Climate Change, and co-organised the Hong Kong 350.org 10/10/10 Global Work Party. She is also the co-founder and President of the Durham Club Beijing, and in training for the Beijing marathon 2011.
