Sandbox at South By Southwest
We’re excited to host our first event at the upcoming South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas (SXSW in short), where Sandboxers from allover the world will come together to attend their Interactive Festival. What started as a music and film festival has become a mecca for some of the hottest startups on the planet [...]
First Sandbox Boston Event
We had the pleasure to host the first Sandbox event end of February in Boston with local members, guests from the Harvard Entrepreneurship Conference and new people. I really enjoyed this evening full of inspiring conversations and look forward to many more to come soon. Many thanks to Nabeel and Sehr for their help with the [...]
London goes Wired
Following an old tradition, we recently organized another dinner at Obika, conjointly with our London ambassador Paolo Rigutto. We were excited about welcoming travelling Sandboxers from allover the world, from Delhi to NYC. Gustav Borgefolk, who recently passed the selection process, joined us from Stockholm with great energy, and we’re convinced that he’ll make the [...]
Taking Sandbox Themes on the Road
Since publishing the Sandbox Six Themes report last month, we received a lot of great feedback and interest from our members, our advisory board, larger organizations, universities, and many others. To keep the momentum going, we were invited to present these themes at various events and conferences around the world.
Just in the last two weeks [...]
Sandbox at DLD in Munich & World Economic Forum in Davos
A lot of traveling happening in the Sandbox team right now. Antoine just came from Singapore where we hosted an event with the Minister of Entrepreneurship (huge thanks to Sandboxer Andi Brenner for the amazing organization!), and our team will be at Digital, Life, Design Conference in Munich and at the World Economic Forum [...]
Seedcamp Plays in the NYC Sandbox
What does Vincent, owner of New York pizza shop 11B Express, have in common with young entrepreneurs? Both go by the motto “If I don’t eat it, I don’t serve it.” This seemed to be the theme last night when NYC Sandbox Co-Ambassadors Niamh Hughes and Fabian Pfortmuller organized a 30+ guest Sandbox event with [...]
ACE / Bluesky Exchange & Sandbox Workshops
I’m glad to announce the fruits of some of the hours Sandboxer Marcel Oedi, aspiring Sandboxer Marcus Kuhn and I put into building the Singapore Sandbox community: a co-hosted ACE / Bluesky Exchange as well as a full day of workshops at Nanyang Technological University. Both events will feature Sandboxers from Switzerland and local entrepreneurs [...]
Sandbox’ partner OYW in The Economist
Sandbox’ exclusive talent partner OneYoungWorld has been covered by The Economist’s The World in 2010. We are glad and proud that the event, for which Sandboxer Lucian Tarnowski does the social media search, is attracting the deserved global attention.
The summit of 1500 delegates from allover the world, which will (for the first time in history) [...]
Ideas & thoughts from Palomar5 in Berlin
I just arrived back from a mind-blowing week in Berlin at Palomar 5. I wanted to thank everyone at P5 for the amazing days and write down a few thoughts, learnings and ideas from the last 5 days in Berlin. There is much more that would deserve to be told, like stories about mexican-human-mini-golf courses at 4 am, midnight Omelette cooking with Saga or Eddie’s theory of focus vs. broadness on a napkin. Below some of the stuff that inspired me most and ideas that came out of it.
Food and Seed Funding in Singapore
During a recent trip to Singapore, I had the opportunity of meeting outstanding people from the local Sandbox community. It was my second stay in Singapore and it was encouraging to see how Singapore had changed over the last 3 years: most visibly though the addition of the Singapore ‘Flyer’ (a bigger version of the [...]
