200 Top Innovators, 72 Hours, 72 Participant-led Sessions
January 19th, 2012 by Nazanine MetghalchiSandbox, the leading network of the most inspiring change-makers below 30, is glad to announce the happenings during the Sandbox Global Summit, held on January 20-22, 2012 in Lisbon, Portugal. While many eyes are on the meeting of established world leaders in Davos next week, this event will gather 200 young leaders of the next generation in Europe’s City of the Year.
In contrast to traditional speaker-led conferences, it is inspired by a collaborative learning model, which will involve 72 unique participant-led sessions ranging from «On Stealing Ideas» by Mattan Griffel, CEO of a NYC-based digital agency, to «How to have the luck of the Irish and pour the perfect pint of Guinness» by William McQuillan, Founder and CEO of Osmoda.com, to «Social enterprise future moulded by Asia» by Kalsoom Lakhani, Founder of Invest2Innovate, and Achyutha Sharma, Director of Sulochana Development Trust. “We aim to give space to heated discussions and unreasonable thoughts”, says Sandbox’ CEO, Nico Luchsinger, “these key insights from the next generation of leaders will be captured at each session and turned into the Sandbox Playbook that will be shared with the rest of the world”.
Building on this culture of empowering and accelerating ideas, Álvaro Santos Pereira, the Portuguese Minister for Economy, will join the participants in an open session to discuss about creative approaches to re-boot Portugal. With the presence of key players from TED, IBM, Ashoka, Bloomberg, and many others, accomplished ‘Seniors’ will meet impact-driven Sandboxers in a 72 hour long intimate Lobby experience, supported by media partners Bertelsmann and Bloomberg Businessweek, as well as local incubator Beta-i.
Sandbox is the foremost global community of extraordinary young innovators between 20 and 30. The growing community counts more than 650 young leaders in 48 different countries. The last regional summit in Los Cabos, Mexico, brought together 70 leading changemakers, and was one of 300 events that have been organized by Sandbox over the last three years.
