A truly global first Ambassadors Call!

Yesterday at 21 GMT, Christian – our London-based Head of Community Development – organized the first global call with Sandbox Ambassadors from all around the world in order for them to get to know each other, discuss several points and share best practice on how to create the best local community.

Thanks to our San Francisco Ambassador Bjoern Lasse, the call was hosted on Supercool School, which benefits from an advanced chat technology, allowing to not only see and hear a large number of participants, but also chat and watch a slideshow.

The call brought together 14 Ambassadors on 4 continents and eight time zones (it was already late in the night for some of us, while others woke up at 5am to participate) and even one participant from the sky: Max Marmer was calling from above the Rocky Mountains, using Delta’s new In-flight Wi-Fi Access (see the wing above on the third picture from the left?)! Among other locations represented, our new Hong Kong, Rio and Madrid hubs.

We had an amazing experience and hope to repeat it soon!

Antoine is a Co-Founder and the CEO of Sandbox. He comes back from a long week-end in Belgium and is writing this post using the tethering function on his iPhone on the way from Geneva airport to Zurich. Ok, it is not as cool as calling from the sky, but he stills enjoys being connected during this 2h40 ride :-)

It was useful indeed. Firstly it is important to establish the personal connection between the ambassadors to initiate a true community feeling. Secondly, we also exchanged the current state of affairs in all of the hubs as well as the upcoming steps and challenges to be overcome. Last but not least one ambassador gave a presentation on his best practice community management (his hub truly rocks), while Christian updated us on all current happenings in the Sandbox core team.

I would say that’s pretty useful for the development of Sandbox.
