October 3rd, 2009 by Paul Gleger

Sandbox is thrilled to announce the support of Ambassador David A. Gross and we welcome him into our world-class Advisory Board!
Ambassador Gross is a partner in Wiley Rein‘s Communications Practice and is one of the world’s foremost experts on international telecommunications. Prior to joining Wiley Rein, Ambassador Gross served as the U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy at the U.S. Department of State for eight years.
During his tenure, Ambassador Gross had overall responsibility for the formulation and advocacy of international communications policy for the United States. In this role, he addressed the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, led more U.S. delegations to major international telecommunication conferences than anyone in modern history, and conducted bilateral discussions at senior levels with representatives from more than 70 countries. Prior to his appointment, he served as Washington counsel to AirTouch Communications. Before being acquired by Vodafone in 1999, AirTouch was the world’s largest wireless telecommunications company with extensive interests in the United States, Europe, Asia, and elsewhere.
Currently, Ambassador Gross draws on his more than 25 years of experience as a global policy maker and corporate executive. He assists U.S. companies seeking to enter or expand international businesses, as well as non-U.S. companies and organizations seeking to invest in, monitor and understand the U.S. market. He also advises foreign companies and countries on opportunities and informs clients regarding the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Organization for Economic Cooperation Development (OECD), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperative (APEC) and other international bodies.
Ambassador Gross has had the honor to lecture at many colleges and universities around the world, including US, UK, Canada, Qatar, the UAE, Yemen, Thailand, India, Israel, Bangladesh, France, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Rwanda, Vietnam, Egypt, and Pakistan. He was in private law practice from 1979 to 1993. Ambassador Gross received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
All of us at Sandbox are excited to learn from Ambassador Gross and look forward to working with him and the rest of our incredible Advisory Board as Sandbox continues growing into the worlds largest community of inspiring achievers and innovators!
