From NYC to Singapore
October 27th, 2009 by Nico LuchsingerSince the very beginning of Sandbox, we have hosted regular dinners with people we found exciting. The dinners have by now become an integral part of the Sandbox community, connecting our members and other interesting people in different places. We believe that there’s no better way to form a community than sharing ideas and insights over some good food and drinks.
That’s why we are thrilled that last week, for the first time, Sandbox hosted dinners on two different continents on the same day. In Singapore, Sandbox co-founder and local ambassador Severin talked to several of our members about social entrepreneurship and venture philantropy – two topics we think will become even more important in the future.

Just a couple of hours later on the other side of the planet, Sandbox president and U.S. ambassador Fabian welcomed a delegation of entrepreneurship from – Singapore. They met with fellow entrepreneurs from Columbia university and took a look at the startup Bug Labs. The day ended with a great dinner in the city that never sleeps.

Thanks to Fabian's excellent organization, we got to meet the people behind Green Soul Shoes, Holstee, the Global China Connection, the Columbia Student Entrepreneurship Organization, Older Adults Technology Services, and others. You can only imagine how many new ideas have been generated and how many connections have been made to execute these ideas. If only one of the mini-initiatives created this night turns into reality - and I'm confident some will -, then this dinner was a great source of macroeconomic wealth and probably some friendships. That's the power of Sandbox. I love it.

Hey Andi,
It was really fantastic to have you guys from Singapore here. Say thanks to Karan, Dan, Marcel and Wilson for joining us here in NYC and see you soon!
