Sandbox goes to space!

sandbox space mission

We are immensely excited to announce a unique opportunity for our members: in an effort of the Russian Federal Space Agency to stay on top of the increasing competition in the space adventure industry, Sandbox has been given the ability to select one of its members for an 8 day stay onboard the International Space Station. With this initiative, the Russian Federal Space Agency hopes to inspire an entire new generation of space tourists to join their missions.

The lucky winner will be the youngest civilian ever to go to space and the 10th space tourist. Applications are open to all Sandbox members. The candidates need to meet minimum medical requirements and must remain available during 12 months after the space mission for promotional activities.

A first selection of 5 members will be made in July 2011 and the 5 candidates will be put through an extensive series of tests. The lucky winner will be announced early 2012 and he/she will have 8 months to complete an intensive training program at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. He/she will be the first mission participant when the Russian Space Adventures program will resume in April 2013.

More than ever, exciting times ahead!
