Sandbox Conferences Sandboxing in Covent Garden

Sandboxing in Covent Garden

September 30th, 2009 by Christian Busch

Another evening of inspiring people around great food in the heart of London: a dozen Sandboxers and guests joined Antoine and me for some good Shiraz and pizza/pasta at Cafe Mode.

Bjoern Welter, Head of Design at Pret A Manger elucidated the interface between design and business, and briefed us about the exciting new openings of Pret in Asia. Caneel Joyce, uniting the best of arts, design, and innovation, updated us about her new challenging position at the LSE, where she’ll be teaching management. Chris Coleridge, director of LSE/RSM’s innovation centre was the ideal person to catch up about this, and indeed they’ll soon be doing their first projects together.

Lucian Tarnowski told us about the TakeHeartIndia Ball on Thursday, which he’ll organize jointly with Virgin and other major brands. Donations welcome!

Paolo Rigutto, our London ambassador, told us about the challenges of being a banker in times of collective depression, and had fascinating insights into how to cope with it. Contact him if you’d like to discuss this or similar issues in more depth, he’ll be organizing smaller bi-weekly dinners for local Sandboxers more frequently as of now.

We were also happy to get to know some new faces at the dinner, among them Ayca Rodop and Michaela Wood, who just set up the promising Oxford Venture Lectures.

In all, a great evening around highly inspiring people who all went beyond the traditional boundaries of their fields!

Glad to hear you've moved on from the Merlot, Chris ;)

Don't forget Café Mode's delicious cheese burgers! Dinner was great fun indeed.
