Why we get up early

Fabian, Antoine and a lot of coffee
When you work at a startup, you expect to put in long hours. Of course, you usually imagine that you’d be working late at night, and not very early in the morning. But at least once a week, that’s what we at Sandbox do: The Zurich team meets on Monday at 7am at La Stanza (strongest coffee in town!!) for the weekly check-in.
It took some time to get adjusted to these early morning meetings, but now we love them.
First, if you meet at 7, you’re done by 8 or 8.30 and still have a full day for focused work ahead of you – very important if you run on a maker’s schedule.
Second, because we discuss our weekly objectives at these meetings, we walk out of them with a clear idea of what to do and lots of energy. What better way to start the week?
And third, it’s just so much nicer to talk to your colleagues in a nice café on a monday morning than sitting in the office in front of your computer.
What are your experiences with early morning meetings? Love them? Hate them? Let us know in the comments!
Nico has co-founded Sandbox. He’s currently Head of Business Development and the company’s «blog daddy». The coffee at La Stanza has completely changed the way he feels about mornings.
